Muhammad Sami Saeed, the Caretaker Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, announced the successful completion of 36 China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects, totaling $24 billion. Speaking at the Senate, Saeed disclosed that an additional 22 CPEC projects, with an investment of $5 billion, are currently in progress. These developments are part of the efforts to advance Balochistan’s growth, a region historically underdeveloped despite past promises.

Saeed further noted that negotiations are ongoing for another set of 26 CPEC projects, estimated at $27 billion. Balochistan is also benefiting from 27 active projects specifically targeting its social and economic upliftment. Significantly, the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the current year, totaling Rs950 billion, includes Rs285 billion allocated to one-third of the program for Balochistan. This amount focuses on enhancing connectivity, road infrastructure, and water management, including various dam projects.

Focusing on Gwadar, a key component of CPEC, Saeed highlighted achievements including the finalization of Gwadar City’s master plan, the East Expressway development, and the anticipated completion of an international airport in June.
