Boosting Trade with Afghanistan through Strategic Road Development under CPEC

Peshawar: In an effort to enhance trade relations with Afghanistan, attention is turning to the Sara Kanda Lajmeri Road. To this end, Inspector General Frontier Corps South, Haroon Hameed, and Deputy Commissioner South Waziristan, Naseer Khan, have prioritized the road’s development, dispatching a special survey team. This team includes Communication and Works department engineers, Frontier Corps (FC) personnel, local officials, and national representatives, who will assess the road’s condition.

Given its strategic significance, upgrading the Sara Kanda Lajmeri Road is expected to streamline trade activities and promote smoother traffic between the neighboring countries, thus benefiting local businesses and the wider community. The road’s enhancement is eagerly awaited by the region’s trading and business sectors since it promises uninterrupted connectivity with Afghanistan, alleviating the impact of roadblocks or seasonal disruptions. Thanks to its location and resilience to environmental changes, it is considered a secure route. Moreover, local tribal commitments to its safety further heighten this road’s viability for trade.

Local traders are optimistic that this development will spur economic growth and augment national revenue. The SDO of Communication and Works has highlighted that the Sarai Kanda Road will serve as an economical and effective conduit for various types of traffic, underpinning the trade exchange with Afghanistan and fostering regional prosperity.
