CDA Advances Property Record Automation in Islamabad.

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is forging ahead with plans to modernize its systems by automating property records for both residential and commercial properties within the federal capital. After almost a decade of deliberation, the CDA is taking significant steps to combat the issue of bogus and fraudulent property cases by implementing an automation solution.

Despite the issuance of transfer letters by the CDA over the past six years, small investors have continued to fall prey to fraudulent activities, casting doubts on the CDA’s reliability and discouraging investment in Islamabad. The lack of decisive action against individuals responsible and the absence of measures for those wronged have further exacerbated the issue.

In a decisive move, CDA Chairman Captain (R) Anwarul Haq recently presided over the CDA Development Working Party meeting. Amongst various items on the agenda, the automation initiative was a key focus, resulting in the approval of a Rs170 million PC-1 for the project.

Stakeholders from various government bodies, including the ministries of Finance, Planning, and Interior, attended the pivotal meeting. The automation project envisages a government-to-government contract, whereby an appointed government firm will digitize approximately 45 million documents over two years. This move is anticipated to enhance transparency within the CDA’s Estate Management wing and the Land and Rehabilitation directorates.

The contracted firm will not only be tasked with the digitization of property records but will also handle the ongoing maintenance and operational aspects of the automated systems, ensuring a seamless transition and robust management.

As the CDA embarks on this automation journey, the promise of increased efficiency and security in property record management is set to transform the future of property dealings in Islamabad.
