The Capital Development Authority (CDA) in Islamabad is poised to enhance the city’s leisure landscape with the introduction of a new recreational amenity inspired by the Nizami Food Street of Baku. Situated along the scenic Lake View Park and the Rawal Dam waterfront, this development aims to enrich the social and culinary experiences for Islamabad’s residents.
Following the Baku model, the CDA aims to create a vibrant space where food enthusiasts can relish diverse cuisines. The new recreational facility promises a fusion of gastronomy and lakeside charm, with a multitude of shops, including souvenir outlets, awaiting the visitors. To ensure transparency and merit-based participation, the CDA plans to lease spaces to acclaimed food-chain firms through open bidding, subsequent to a thorough pre-qualification process.
The authority envisages considerable earnings through this venture while simultaneously beautifying the lake’s vicinity. Moreover, the CDA has invalidated previous lease agreements from 2007 for multiple recreational activities within the premises of Lakeview Park due to non-compliance and inequitable distribution practices. These initial leases, some stretching as long as 30 years, will now be reassigned through an equitable open auction system.
The assortment of recreational offerings for auction includes dynamic attractions such as Off-Road Motor Support Pro-Go Carts, BMX Cycling, and Paintball Buggy alongside more serene pastimes like Mini Golf, Horse Riding, and a Musical Play Area. Furthermore, previously unoccupied shops and entertainment spaces within Lakeview Phase-II will also be put up for lease.
For the reassigned leases, the new term will be set at 15 years, after which the installations revert to CDA ownership. Current leaseholders will be duly compensated for their investments, should they lose their lease to a higher bidder, based on valuations conducted by registered entities appointed by the CDA, injecting fairness into the process.
As Islamabad gears up for this transformative addition, the CDA extends an invitation to potential bidders and food aficionados, hinting at a future where the city’s recreational appeal leaps to new heights, mirroring the allure of the Baku model.
