Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz visited Rawalpindi to review the progress of two key projects aimed at improving the city’s infrastructure and addressing water shortage. Her visit focused on the Daducha Dam and the Rawalpindi Ring Road.
Located 25km from Rawalpindi, the Daducha Dam is under construction and is currently 40% complete financially and 12% complete physically. The dam is expected to be finished by November 2025, as per the revised timeline set by the Chief Minister. This project is crucial for addressing the city’s water shortage, especially during the summer months.
The Chief Minister also visited the Rawalpindi Ring Road project, a 38.3km long road currently under construction. While the initial completion date was February 2025, the Chief Minister urged officials to expedite the project and complete it by December 2024. This ring road will feature five interchanges, 11 overpasses, and other crucial infrastructure to improve the city’s transportation network.
The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of completing both projects within the designated timeframe, highlighting their potential to alleviate residents’ challenges and create economic opportunities through the development of industrial zones along the ring road. She also proposed naming the ring road’s interchanges after nearby villages, fostering a sense of local connection and identity.
