Daducha Dam_ Critical Water Project for Rawalpindi Now Back on Track

RAWALPINDI: After prolonged delays, the Daducha Dam is making headway once again, with an expedited completion timeline that aims to wrap up the project in under two years. During his recent inspection visit, Dr. Jamal Nasir, the provincial Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare and Population Welfare, expressed renewed hope for the dam’s progress.

The water supply situation for Rawalpindi is set to improve significantly with Dr. Nasir overseeing the development as the monitoring in-charge appointed by the caretaker Punjab Chief Minister, Mohsin Naqvi. The Chief Minister’s direct intervention has revitalised the previously stalled water project, setting a stark precedent for governmental involvement.

While on-site, Dr. Nasir evaluated the construction efforts at the Daducha Dam firsthand and provided essential guidance to ensure the project overcomes any potential hurdles. He praised the Rawalpindi commissioner’s management of the vital land acquisition phase, indispensable for the dam’s timely completion.

The design specifics of the Daducha Dam were a key focus in Dr. Nasir’s briefing as he underscored the infrastructure’s dimensions: a height of 123 feet and a stretch of 737 feet. Upon its much-anticipated conclusion, the dam promises to deliver a substantial 35 million gallons of daily water supply, quenching the thirst of the growing garrison city and marking a momentous milestone in its development trajectory.
