The Federal Government Housing Authority (FGEHA) has not yet provided compensation to individuals affected by the acquisition of land in sectors G-12 and F-12 of the federal capital. However, the authority has stated that compensation will be given to the affected individuals per the established criteria.
According to an official from the FGEHA, the registration for the allotment of plots to the general public in sectors G-12 and F-12 was opened in August 2023. The award of land in these sectors was initially announced by the Deputy Commissioner of the Capital Development Authority in June 1985 and April 1985 under section 25 of the CDA Ordinance 1960.
Since there are no provisions for revoking the award once it is announced, the Land Acquisition Act 1894 does not allow for the setting aside of an award. As a result, the Judgment of Land Award was passed by the DC, FGEHA in April 2021 after addressing court orders and other relevant issues. The awarded rate is Rs. 62,90,000+ 15% compulsory land acquisition charges (Total Rs. 72,33,500/-).
To resolve the issue, a proposal for an amendment in the award was presented to the Federal Cabinet. The proposal suggested that the entire record of sectors G-12 and F-12, along with the 1985 award, should be withdrawn from the CDA and assigned to the FGEHA for the decision of compensation. This proposal was approved by the Federal Cabinet in December 2021, and the CDA subsequently handed over the land to the FGE Housing Authority.
Regarding the existence of a katchi abadi (informal settlement) called Mehar Abadi on the said land, the official stated that the settlement was not created after the handover to the FGEHA. The authority has taken various measures to prevent encroachment on the land.
