Islamabad residents, particularly registered workers, have a reason to cheer. The Workers Welfare Fund (WWF), an attached department under the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, has finalized a massive labor complex in Zone-V. This impressive project boasts 1008 flats and 500 houses, all set to provide much-needed modern accommodation for the industrial workforce of the twin cities, Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
“We are relentlessly working to address the various challenges faced by our workers,” revealed an official source from the WWF. “These labor complexes, including the one in Peshawar and this one in Islamabad, are a significant part of our commitment to improving their lives.”
Spanning a vast 1476 kanals of land, the Workers Welfare Labor Colony Phase-I goes beyond just offering shelter. The complex is meticulously designed to cater to the needs of its residents. Each flat and house is strategically built to ensure comfort and functionality.
But that’s not all. Recognizing the importance of a well-rounded community, the complex also features a mosque, an industrial home, a community center, and a utility store. These amenities will not only provide essential services but also foster a sense of belonging and togetherness among the residents.
The official source highlighted another achievement during the interview. The government’s target of sending one million workers abroad for employment under various agreements this year has been successfully met. This accomplishment, coupled with a significant rise in remittances, signifies the effectiveness of the WWF’s multifaceted efforts in supporting Pakistani workers both domestically and internationally.
The completion of the Zone-V labor complex signifies a significant step forward in improving the lives of Islamabad and Rawalpindi’s industrial workforce. This initiative provides them with secure and comfortable housing, promotes community building, and reflects the government’s dedication to ensuring the well-being of its working class.
