NTDC completes crossing work on M-2 near Sheikhupura Interchange.

In a significant milestone for the National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC), the Motorway M-2 crossing work near Sheikhupura Interchange has been successfully completed. This work, located between the 36th and 37th km, is part of the construction of a new 220kV Transmission Line originating from the 500kV Grid Station Lahore North. The NTDC worked in close coordination with the National Highways & Motorway Police (NH&MP) to ensure the seamless completion of the task.

Necessary approvals and a No Objection Certificate (NOC) were obtained from the National Highway Authority (NHA) and M/s Moore (Concessionaire) for this project. Despite the initially advertised timeframe of two days, the project was efficiently executed within a single day by deploying additional resources to minimize traffic disruptions.

This initiative, financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), aims to enhance the transmission capacity of 220kV Transmission lines originating from the 220kV Grid Station Ravi, 220kV Grid Station Kala Shah Kaku, and 500kV Grid Station Sheikhupura. It is designed to address the increasing load demand in the GEPCO and LESCO regions, ultimately reducing transmission line losses and improving system reliability. NTDC Managing Director Engr. Dr. Rana Abdul Jabbar Khan praised the efforts of the project team and urged the contractor, M/s Sinohydro, to ensure the timely completion of the remaining work.
