Pakistan is joining forces with Chinese construction companies to build better infrastructure and real estate projects faster and smarter. This collaboration brings valuable expertise, efficient techniques, and a focus on sustainability to the table.
According to Dr. Liaqat Ali Shah, head of policy for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Chinese investments have primarily focused on power plants, railways, and highways, especially in underdeveloped regions.
He highlighted the advantage of Chinese companies’ vast experience in rapid urbanization, which translates to efficient construction techniques and high-quality standards. This benefits Pakistan by ensuring durable and resilient infrastructure, particularly important in areas prone to natural disasters.
But it’s not just about speed and strength. Both Pakistan and China recognize the importance of sustainable practices, so their partnership emphasizes eco-friendly construction and green building materials. This collaboration, through joint research and knowledge sharing, will help achieve climate action goals and responsible resource use.
Dr. Shah also stresses the importance of training programs to create a skilled and competitive Pakistani construction workforce, further strengthening the long-term impact of this partnership.
