The long-awaited repairs on Kahuta Road, the vital and scenic link between Rawalpindi and Azad Kashmir, are finally set to begin on February 1st, 2024. This announcement brings welcome relief to locals who have suffered the road’s deteriorating condition for years.
Rawalpindi Division Commissioner Laiqat Ali Chatha highlighted the road’s significance, calling it a crucial “defense route” and a key connection to Azad Kashmir. He acknowledged the inconveniences caused by potholes, landslides, and general disrepair, emphasizing the project’s urgency.
The rehabilitation work, scheduled for completion within three months, will focus on repairing the S-5 section of the road. Commissioner Chatha has also directed the administrations of Rawalpindi and Azad Kashmir to prioritize the safety and well-being of the engineering teams involved.
