SNGPL Resumes RLNG Gas Connections in Private Housing Societies.

In a recent notification, SNGPL has announced the resumption of regasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) based gas connections in privately developed housing schemes. The policy includes the provision of RLNG connections in housing societies where the network has been laid on RLNG basis after recovering 100% of the cost from the developer. This policy will also apply to new phases, extensions, or blocks of existing housing societies commissioned on RLNG basis as per OGRA policy.

Key points highlighted in the notification:

  • RLNG connections will be provided only to housing societies that have not received system gas connections.
  • The moratorium on system gas domestic connections will continue.
  • Laying of network in private housing schemes is being initiated.
  • RLNG-based connections will be on an individual meter basis.

The top management has directed relevant departments to allocate resources, meters, and service line material promptly to meet the requirements similar to system gas connections. The decision to resume domestic gas connections was made by the Apex Committee of Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), allowing RLNG-based connections to private housing societies on a full price recovery basis. This initiative aims to reduce the diversion cost of RLNG to the domestic sector.
