An important Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) and the Asian Consulting Engineers JV Turk Company Botek Bogazici Musavirlik Anonim Sirketi. This MoU signifies their collaboration for the consultation of the remarkable Rawalpindi Ring Road mega project. A ceremony was organized at the Commissioner Office to commemorate this occasion, which witnessed the presence of distinguished individuals including Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Liaquat Ali Chattha, DG RDA Saif Anwar Jhappa, Chief Engineer Dr Habib Ul Haq Randhawa, the Secretary Committee P&D Board Punjab, representatives from the provincial government, and officers from relevant departments.
Outline Of MOU
The MoU outlines that the Asian Consultant Engineers JV will offer consultation services as a third party, aiming to determine the most optimal route for the Rawalpindi Ring Road project. During the ceremony, Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chattha expressed his views on the significance of this mega project, emphasizing that it will be a transformative development for the city of Rawalpindi. He assured everyone that there would be no further delays in the execution of this project, as it serves the best interests of the public.
The Commissioner further stated that the issue of traffic congestion in the twin cities would be effectively addressed once the Ring Road project is completed. He informed the audience that the government had advertised internationally to hire a consultant for this endeavor. The process of prequalifying consultants has already been completed, and Request for Proposals (RFP) has been issued to the qualified consultants.
Moreover, Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chattha informed the attendees that the Punjab government had instructed the Project Management Unit (PMU) to oversee the verification process of the Ring Road project while simultaneously initiating an international bidding process. He shared that the consultant selection committee had reached a final decision during their meeting, and in the upcoming days, the PMU would sign an MoU to establish a joint venture.
